Upon opening your Cruxtruder for the first time It will produce a Kernelsprite. Kernelsprites are supposed to serve as guides to the player and help them throughout the journey. But before that, Kernelsprites must be Prototyped. Prototyping a Kernelsprite means to combine the Sprite with inanimate objects, living or formerly living things. After they are prototyped they can assist the player in combat, but more importantly give them information about Sburb and the player's personal quest.

-- The Kernelsprite splits...

When you enter The Medium your Kernel Sprite will divide itself in two. Turning into a Kernel, and a Sprite. The Kernel splits into two as well, one going to Prospit and one to Derse. This will in turn change the enemies you encounter. For instance if I prototype a sword and enter, enemies will start appearing with swords.

-- Before and after...

Now the import thing to notice about sprites, they can be prototypes two times. Which gives us three types of prototyping, Both before entering the medium, ( Two enemy changes ). One before and one after, ( One enemy change, one personal change). Or both after, ( Two personal changes).
